Join Macquarie University's IT Project Management Office (PMO) as a Senior PMO Analyst, where you'll provide subject matter expertise across a portfolio of programs and projects. Sitting within IT Delivery, the PMO helps ensure the University's portfolio is aligned, so that business outcomes and benefits are realised. In this role you'll be a trusted adviser to Program and Project Managers, applying best-practice governance, assurance, finance and delivery-practice support to help teams deliver with clarity and confidence. About the Role Reporting to our Governance & Assurance Manager or Delivery Practice Manager, your key responsibilities consist of: Provide subject matter expertise, advice and support in PMO services to Program/Project Managers and project teams, helping align delivery with agreed operating methods and standards. Guide the end-to-end lifecycle governance of projects, applying risk-based evaluation of project performance through designated frameworks and methodologies. Evaluate and facilitate discussions on project delivery, resources, governance, finance and reporting, recommending actions that support effective change. Partner with the manager to identify and implement improvements to frameworks, processes and reporting mechanisms that keep stakeholders informed of project performance. Prepare and review project reporting including budget, schedule, resourcing and benefits delivery and coordinate content for executive communications, steering committees and program boards. Help build the IT PMO as a recognised centre of best practice through knowledge sharing, coaching and capability uplift across the team. Liaise with suppliers to support delivery, performance monitoring and compliance with relevant processes and procedures. About You (Selection Criteria ) You are an experienced project professional with a solid grounding in project finance and commercial understanding, ideally gained within a PMO as an analyst or as a Senior Project Manager. You bring strong analytical and reporting capability, a keen eye for detail, and a genuine focus on continuous improvement. You enjoy building effective working relationships and helping teams deliver to a high standard. A relevant degree in a related discipline (IT, Business, HR, or Finance/Accounting) and/or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience, with an understanding of project and risk management fundamentals. Demonstrated project finance and commercial acumen, including experience with contracts, forecasting and financial reporting across programs, projects or portfolios. A proven track record working across complex programs/projects, providing subject matter expertise in governance and assurance, delivery practice or finance, while engaging multiple stakeholders and disciplines. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to convey information clearly to a wide range of stakeholders and build effective working relationships. Highly organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing circumstances in a variable environment. Experience contributing to the review, development and implementation of improvements to operational processes, procedures, policies, frameworks and/or methodologies, including knowledge sharing and coaching. Technical proficiency in reporting and data analytics tools, including advanced Excel and business intelligence tools such as Power BI and Power Automate, is highly regarded, along with project management certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Agile) and prior experience in higher education, research, or similar sectors.
