Job Description

Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Clinical Research and Data Scientist within UCD School of Biomolecular and Biomedical Science. The UCD THORAX project is a clinical data science research programme focused on the use of routinely collected critical-care data to investigate prediction and risk stratification in respiratory illness. Building on established proof-of-concept work developed with clinical partners, the programme applies machine-learning approaches to large-scale longitudinal ICU data to address clinically relevant challenges in acute care. This one-year position is funded through UCD Rinn AI, part of the new Research Ireland Rinn AI programme. The post will focus on expanding and strengthening the underlying clinical dataset, developing robust analytical workflows, and supporting the validation of predictive models at scale. The successful candidate will contribute to a technically demanding programme of data integration, analysis, model development and validation, with outputs supporting peer-reviewed publications, future research funding and the continued development of the programme. Fixed Salary: €39,500 per annum. Closing date: 12:00 noon (local Irish time) on 02/09/2026. Applications must be submitted by the closing date and time specified. Any applications which are still in progress at the closing time of 12:00 noon (Local Irish Time) on the specified closing date will be cancelled automatically by the system.
