The University of Newcastle is seeking a Campus Care Coordinator to join our behavioural threat and risk management team (Campus Care), where you'll play a critical role in helping create a safe, respectful and supportive environment for the University Community. Working at the intersection of risk management, wellbeing and case coordination, you'll respond to reports of inappropriate, concerning or threatening behaviour, including sexual assault and sexual harassment. Through evidence-based behavioural risk assessment, collaborative case management and strong stakeholder relationships, you'll help identify concerns early, coordinate appropriate responses, and minimise harm. No two days are the same. This is a varied and rewarding role where you'll work closely with internal and external stakeholders, providing expert advice and coordinating responses to complex situations that require sound judgement, discretion and professionalism. The Role In this role you will: Receive, assess and respond to reports of concerning, inappropriate or threatening behaviour through the University's Campus Care framework. Conduct behavioural risk assessments using evidence-based tools. Develop tailored risk management, safety and referral plans to support individuals and manage potential harm. Coordinate responses to high-risk incidents, ensuring timely and appropriate action is taken. Work collaboratively with internal services, external agencies to support effective case management. Provide advice and guidance to staff and students while maintaining privacy, confidentiality and procedural fairness. Contribute to the ongoing promotion of Campus Care and initiatives that strengthen a safe and respectful University community. Drive continuous improvement in service delivery and behavioural risk management practices. Will exercise highly developed written communication skills, including experience preparing professional reports, case notes, correspondence, briefings and recommendations. Essential Criteria: A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, or another relevant discipline, with subsequent relevant experience; and registration with nationally recognised professional board or bodies (e.g. AHPRA, AASW). Demonstrated experience working with individuals experiencing complex wellbeing, mental health, behavioural or safety concerns within a health, community services, higher education, justice or similar setting. Experience applying professional judgement to assess and manage risk, develop risk management strategies, and support decision-making in complex or sensitive situations. Outstanding interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage confidently with a broad range of stakeholders, and communicate effectively with individuals experiencing distress, conflict or crisis. Demonstrated experience responding to individuals impacted by trauma, including the ability to apply trauma-informed, person-centred and culturally safe approaches. Knowledge of current practice in responding to gender-based violence, family and domestic violence, sexual harm and other forms of interpersonal violence, including victim-survivor centred approaches. This ongoing contingent role is full time at a HEW 8 Higher Education Worker Level and is located at Callaghan Campus.
