Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time fixed term position as a Research Fellow in Evidence Synthesis, with Evidence Synthesis Ireland, based in the Centre for Health Research Methodology at the University of Galway, Ireland. This position is funded by the Health Research Board (Ireland) and the HSC Research and Development Division of the Public Health Agency (Northern Ireland) through Evidence Synthesis Ireland, and is available from 1st November 2026 to contract end date of 30 November 2030. Centre for Health Research Methodology The Centre for Health Research Methodology (CHRM, see www.CHRM.ie ), within the College of Medicine and Health at the University of Galway, is a research methods centre focused on strengthening the design, conduct, reporting and use of health research to support better decision-making. The CHRM provides an applied, collaborative environment for evidence synthesis and randomised trials, with an active programme of training and engagement activities. The Centre hosts three established national initiatives: Evidence Synthesis Ireland (ESI) , which builds evidence synthesis capacity and quality on the island of Ireland; Cochrane Ireland , part of the global Cochrane network supporting healthcare decision-making through high-quality synthesised evidence; and the HRB-Trials Methodology Research Network (HRB-TMRN) , which works to improve the quality and impact of randomised trials. The CHRM also promotes informed health choices, supports public engagement, and helps people access clear, accurate health information and think critically about health claims. Salary: Research Fellow salary scale €67,214 - €87,743 per annum, (subject to the project’s funding limitations), and pro rata for shorter and/or part-time contracts. The default position for all new public sector appointments is the 1st point of the salary scale. This may be reviewed, and consideration afforded to appointment at a higher point on the payscale (subject to the project’s funding limitations), where evidence of prior years’ equivalent experience is accepted in determining placement on the scale above point 1, subject to the maximum of the scale.
