Job Description
The University of Hong Kong seeks Senior Software Developers/Software Developers for its Student Information Systems Team. Key responsibilities include designing, developing, and deploying web and mobile applications, modernizing systems, integrating AI technologies like LLMs, and managing cloud infrastructure on Azure. Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related field
- Solid experience in software application development and system support
- A good command of written and spoken English
- Strong communication, presentation, analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high degree of responsibility.
- Applicants should have good knowledge of, and relevant experience in, some of the following areas:
- Designing and developing microservices with Spring Boot and Java Servlets
- Frontend web development using modern frameworks such as React, Next.js, and Vue.js, with Node.js for server-side development and tooling
- Native or hybrid mobile app development (React Native, Swift, Objective-C, Cordova, Framework7)
- Database technologies (Oracle, MS SQL)
- System modernization strategies and legacy application migration
- Cloud technologies (Microsoft Azure), including API Management (APIM) and hybrid cloud
- API technologies and protocols, including RESTful APIs and SOAP, as well as integrations leveraging the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to enable large-scale AI adoption and consumption
- AI and machine-learning integrations, particularly leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs)
- PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and Oracle BI Publisher
- Power BI (Power BI Desktop and Power BI Report Builder)
- IoT development including contactless smartcard systems and related technologies.
- Those with lower qualifications and/or less experience may be considered for appointment as Software Developer (at the rank of IT Technician). High-caliber fresh graduates are also welcome to apply.

- A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary.
- The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years and commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
