Senior Lecturer - Teaching Academic Faculty of Health Sciences Perth, Western Australia Permanent Part Time 03/09/2026 Part-time 0.4FTE ongoing role 2 days per week, Monday & Wednesdays On-campus amenities including a gym, medical centre, and childcare facilities A variety of salary packaging options available Reference: 1674584 About the Role: The Senior Lecturer – Year 2 Clinical Skills role is an integral component of the five-year undergraduate MBBS program at Curtin Medical School which focuses on developing medical professionals for primary care in rural and remote areas. This role will contribute to the design, delivery and continuous improvement of the Year 2 clinical skills curriculum, supporting students to develop the practical skills and confidence required for clinical practice. Working closely with the Clinical Skills Domain Lead, Unit Coordinator, OSCE developer and clinical skills tutors, this role will collaboratively provide a consistent, high-quality and engaging learning experience across the year 2 program. This role combines curriculum development, teaching delivery, assessment support, mentoring and collaboration. It also offers the opportunity to contribute to scholarly teaching practice and assist reshaping the Year 2 clinical skills curriculum. As a Senior Lecturer Teaching Academic, you will bring an established record in teaching and service leadership, with the ability to incorporate research, scholarship and/or professional practice into teaching activities. You will also support student learning through mentoring, leadership and active contribution to learning and teaching communities. Your responsibilities will include: Coordinate the design, delivery and continuous improvement of the Year 2 clinical skills curriculum. Deliver engaging, high-quality teaching across online, distributed and face-to-face learning environments. Develop learning materials and assessment practices that support student learning outcomes. Contribute to moderation, assessment planning, curriculum quality and academic standards. Respond to student learning needs and feedback to improve teaching and curriculum delivery. Foster an inclusive, supportive and collaborative learning environment for students and teaching staff. Contribute to scholarship, professional development and innovation in teaching and learning. Supervise honours, postgraduate coursework and HDR students as appropriate. Contribute to academic service, external engagement and professional/community activities relevant to the discipline. Mentor less experienced teaching staff and model professional behaviour aligned with Curtin’s values and Code of Conduct. Who we are looking for/Selection Criteria: A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline, or equivalent accreditation and professional standing for a Teaching Focused Clinical Professional role, such as Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). Proven high level teaching skills with a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching and learning. A significant contribution to scholarship in teaching and learning to support teaching projects and initiatives. A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline. An emerging record of peer reviewed publications in high quality journals. Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and unit/course coordination. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead teaching and learning initiatives and provide mentoring to less experienced staff. Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity. Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position. Role Requirements: As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and active clinical practice in a relevant discipline. Part-time 15 hours per week at 0.4FTE workdays are Mondays & Wednesdays.
