Deliver high-quality Outdoor and Environmental Education programs across online and face-to-face settings, supporting curriculum innovation and teacher education Collaborate with schools, government, and community organisations to strengthen educational outcomes, teacher capability, and community wellbeing Full time, ongoing position based in Hobart, Tasmania About the opportunity The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Outdoor and Environmental Education is an innovative educator-researcher who contributes to the design, development and delivery of high-quality teaching and curriculum development, while conducting impactful research aligned with the University of Tasmania mission. The successful applicant may deliver programs in a flexible, fully online and face to face models; and contribute to excellence in teacher education, research and engagement. The successful candidate will have a profile that allows them to teach across a range of areas within the school, including in Outdoor and Environmental Education, and will have a strong commitment to the crucial role of education to enable individuals and communities to flourish. Experience teaching within Initial Teacher Education programs will be highly regarded. What you’ll do: Develop, coordinate and deliver high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Education and related areas within ITE and non-ITE programs Contribute to innovative curriculum design and continuous improvement of learning experiences that support student success and graduate readiness Coordinate and provide academic leadership to support teaching staff where required. Make an effective and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities. Undertake high-quality research of national and increasingly of international standing, seek external competitive and other funding, publish research findings and contribute to the successful supervision of research higher degree students, in order to meet and regularly exceed the University’s research performance expectations for Level B or Level C. Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive partnerships and effective relationships within the University and the discipline, relevant interdisciplinary domains, profession, industry and/or wider community at local and national levels. ­ What we’re looking for: Academic level B A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field. Demonstrated experience in leading and delivering high-quality teaching and learning in at least two of the following environments: bush, alpine, river, coastal, and / or rock. Demonstrated record of, and ongoing commitment to, research that has achieved national recognition and made worthwhile contributions to the field of Outdoor and Environmental Education, demonstrated by a record of quality publications, presentations at conferences and preferably success in securing external competitive and other funding. Demonstrated experience in delivering and supporting high-quality University level teaching and learning in Outdoor & Environmental Education Experience designing, developing or contributing to curriculum and assessment aligned with learning outcomes A record of contributing to building and maintaining effective and productive links locally and nationally with the discipline, profession, industry and wider community. Academic level C A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field. Demonstrated experience in leading and delivering high-quality teaching and learning at least two of bush, alpine, river, coastal, and / or rock environments A strong record in, and continuing commitment to, research that has achieved national and preferably international recognition and made notable contributions to the field of Outdoor and Environmental Education, demonstrated by a record of high-quality publications, presentations at conferences and success in securing external competitive and other funding. A demonstrated record of successful HDR supervision and research leadership, including contribution to research capacity building. Demonstrated experience in delivering and supporting high-quality University-level teaching and learning in Outdoor & Environmental Education Demonstrated experience designing or contributing to curriculum and assessment aligned with learning outcomes A record of contributing to building and maintaining effective and productive links locally and nationally with the discipline, profession, industry and wider community. Salary details Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $155,885 comprising base salary within the range of $114,766 to $133,235 plus 17% superannuation. Academic Level C and will have a total remuneration package of up to $184,076 comprising base salary within the range of $138,536 to $157,330 plus 17% superannuation.
