The Technical University of Munich seeks a Professor in Aerodynamics to conduct research and teach on the frontier of fundamental and applied aerodynamics, particularly focusing on air transport systems and flight physics. Key research areas include aircraft configurations, unconventional vehicles, smart-wing technologies, and high-speed aerodynamics. Candidates must demonstrate excellent international research and teaching achievements, possess a strong academic background, and have significant international research experience.

• The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists.
• The successful candidate is expected to perform research at the frontier of fundamental and applied aerodynamics with a focus on air transport systems and physics of flight.
• Main research directions can be in one or more of the following areas: aerodynamics of transport and highly agile aircraft configurations, unconventional vehicles with fixed wing / rotary / hybrid wing layouts, configurational aerodynamics and flow physics related to smart-wing technologies, highly flexible high aspect ratio wings, blended wing body, laminar-flow technology, transonic and high-speed aerodynamics, manipulation of turbulence and vortex dominated flows, advanced flow and load control measures, high-lift aerodynamics and systems.
• The professorship is expected to strengthen the area “Security and Defense” at TUM.
• Teaching responsibilities include courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs. The successful candidate is expected to assume responsibility for the teaching curriculum in aerodynamics and participate in further developing fluid mechanics teaching curricula.
