Full time 4 year fixed term contract avavablie Be apart of the SICK-day Medication Education to Decrease Harm in people with diabetes, cardiovascular or kidney disease (SICKMEDS) project Base Salary starting from $ 117,936 + 17% superannuatio n About the opportunity The Sydney School of Pharmacy is seeking a highly motivated and research-focused Postdoctoral Research Associate (Level A) to join an exciting externally funded research project investigating medication safety in people living with diabetes, cardiovascular disease and chronic kidney disease. Medication-related problems (MRPs) are responsible for approximately 250,000 hospital admissions annually in Australia, costing the health system an estimated $1.4 billion each year. Importantly, many of these admissions are preventable through optimised prescribing and improved consumer support regarding medicine use. This position will contribute to the SICK-day Medication Education to Decrease Harm in people with diabetes, cardiovascular or kidney disease (SICKMEDS) project. The project aims to evaluate the impact of SICK-MEDS education on reducing acute kidney injury, hospitalisation rates in culturally and linguistically diverse people. Working closely with Associate Professor Ronald Castelino and a multidisciplinary research team, the successful candidate will play a leading role in the management and delivery of the research program, including patient engagement, co-design activities, data collection, analysis and dissemination of findings. Your key responsibilities will be to: Coordinate and manage day-to-day delivery of the SICKMEDS clinical research project Lead participant recruitment, engagement and retention activities Facilitate and support co-design workshops with patients, consumers and healthcare professionals Deliver patient education and training relating to SICK-MEDS implementation Conduct qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis. Prepare research reports, publications, conference presentations and project outputs Contribute to ethics submissions, governance processes and regulatory requirements Collaborate with academic, clinical and consumer stakeholders across the project Support supervision and mentoring of students where appropriate. Contribute to grant reporting and dissemination activities. Participate in School, Faculty and University committees and meetings as required Occasional travel within Western Sydney for participant engagement, project activities and stakeholder meetings. About you Essential Criteria Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) and/or Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) PhD in Pharmacy, Clinical Pharmacy, Health Services Research, Public Health or a related discipline Current registration as a Pharmacist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Demonstrated understanding of medication safety, chronic disease management and related healthcare research. Hospital pharmacy experience Experience conducting original research and/or scholarly activity. Demonstrated expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies Experience conducting co-design and consumer-engaged research. Proven ability to manage research projects and work independently while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Evidence of peer-reviewed publications and research dissemination. Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills Ability to analyse complex data and prepare high-quality research outputs and reports A developing research profile within the discipline or area of expertise A developing network of academic, industry and professional stakeholders and partners. Desirable Criteria Experience in medication safety, chronic disease management, nephrology, diabetes or cardiovascular research Experience managing clinical or implementation research projects. Familiarity with patient-centred intervention design and evaluation methodologies Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities Demonstrated success in securing competitive research funding or supporting grant-funded research programs.
