Part-Time Academic (PSYO/NESC 3180: Psychoneuroimmunology/Ecological Immunology) - Winter 2027 Bookmark this Posting Print Preview | Apply for this Job Position Details Position Information Position Title Part-Time Academic (PSYO/NESC 3180: Psychoneuroimmunology/Ecological Immunology) - Winter 2027 Posting Number PTAP3533P Department/Unit Psychology and Neuroscience Location Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Job Summary & Key Responsibilities PSYO / NESC 3180 examines how immune systems and nervous systems interact in both vertebrates and invertebrates. Evolutionary forces that have led to the existence of these interactions are also examined. The Part-Time Academic will be responsible for teaching a 3000-level lecture course, Psychoneuroimmunology/Ecological Immunology ( PSYO / NESC 3180.03). The class will be offered in-person on Dalhousie’s Studley campus, with class sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays from 4:35 to 5:25pm. The anticipated enrollment is 50 students, and the course comes with a TA90. Responsibilities of the successful applicant will include: Developing 12 weeks of content, including lectures, readings, and assessments. In-person delivery of course material, according to the current class schedule (noted above). Preparation and administration of assessments (assignments; quizzes/exams). Grading assessments and providing timely feedback to students (in collaboration with the course TA). Offering approximately 2 hours per week for student consultation; responding to student emails in a timely manner. Providing course content (e.g., syllabus, notes, grades) on Brightspace, Dalhousie’s learning management system. Maintaining a record of all student grades (including grades for each assessment component) in Brightspace, and ensuring timely submission of final letter grades to the registrar’s office. Teaching occasionally requires work after the formal end point of a course (for example, in cases where a student has extenuating circumstances or academic accommodations that require a deferred final exam). If such cases arise, the Part-Time Academic must facilitate tying up loose ends, either by completing the work themselves, or by providing the necessary materials for the department to complete the work on their behalf (e.g., answer keys; Brightspace access). This position reports to the Chair of the Department. Qualifications/Requirements of Position Applicants must have a graduate degree in Neuroscience or a related discipline, and must have research or teaching experience in one or more areas relevant to those listed in the course description above. Proficiency with delivery of course content using a learning management system (Brightspace in particular) is considered an asset.
