Job Description

Health & Safety Coordinator Surrey Sports Park is at the heart of sport and physical activity in Surrey, and our mission is to deliver the best possible sport, health and wellbeing experience to our University of Surrey students and to the wider SSP community. The role As Health & Safety Coordinator, you will provide day-to-day health, safety, quality and compliance support across Surrey Sports Park, helping to ensure our venue remains safe, efficient and welcoming for staff, students, customers, visitors, partners and contractors. Working closely with the Projects and Compliance Manager, you will support inspections, audits, risk assessments, incident reporting, compliance records, contractor documentation and safe systems of work, while helping operational teams understand and follow practical safety procedures. You will play an important role in promoting a positive health and safety culture, supporting training and awareness activity, tracking actions through to completion and helping teams identify learning and continuous improvement opportunities. About you We are looking for someone with strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and a practical understanding of health and safety in a busy public-facing environment. You will ideally have experience supporting compliance, inspections, audits, incident records or operational safety processes, together with good IT skills and the ability to maintain accurate records. A relevant health and safety qualification, such as IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent, is essential, or a willingness to work towards one. Just as importantly, you will be confident communicating with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders, able to balance competing priorities, and committed to supporting safe, consistent and customer-focused operations. Key Responsibilities
