  • The ANZAC Research Institute is a biomedical research institute where discovery meets care.
  • Guided by our history, we partner with clinicians to innovate and deliver improved health outcomes for Defence members, veterans and our broader community.
  • The Institute was established in 1995 and is an entity of Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) operating as a research partnership with the University of Sydney.
  • It is located on the campus of Concord Repatriation General Hospital (CRGH), a primary referral hospital within SLHD and a teaching hospital of the University of Sydney.
  • We are seeking to appoint an outstanding academic at the level of Associate Professor or Professor (Level D or E) as the Director of the ANZAC Research Institute.
  • The appointee will have overall responsibility for leading the implementation of the Institutes strategic plan, provide scientific guidance, and liaise with SLHD and Precinct Academic Directors on operational and financial management of the Institute.
  • In accordance with the research collaborative agreement, the Director will have accountability to the Chief Executive of SLHD and the Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Health University of Sydney (or their appointed delegates from time to time) as designated employers of the Director.
  • In the case of the Faculty of Medicine and Health, the Director will report to the Head of School Medical Sciences, one of seven schools in FMH.
  • The Director will also provide regular reports to the ANZAC Advisory Council covering the overall research performance of the Institute.
  • The position is to be based in the School of Medical Sciences at University of Sydney and the Director will be a member of the school’s leadership team.
