The purpose of the Collegium is to promote high-quality research in the humanities and social sciences (including law, behavioural sciences and theology), to promote interaction between different academic fields, and to facilitate international and interdisciplinary research collaboration. The Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies invites applications for 1–2 POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHERS IN THE ARTS for fixed-term employment from 15 August 2027 to 14 August 2028. Who can apply? The position of the postdoctoral researcher in the arts is located at the Collegium and primarily intended for persons having a doctoral degree in the arts. However, persons engaged in artistic work with a doctoral degree in a different academic field are also eligible to apply. In addition to the doctoral degree, the requirements for the position include experience of artistic work or artistic research. Eligible applicants must have completed their doctoral degree before the application deadline. The call is open to practitioners of all fields of art. Successful candidates have the ability to produce high-quality artistic work and conduct research at an internationally significant level. The working language of the Collegium is English. The positions of the postdoctoral researchers in the arts are funded by the Kone Foundation. What we offer The HCAS provides a creative and inspiring research community, allowing the fellows to pursue their personal research project exploring the interface between the arts and academic research. The Postdoctoral Fellowships in the Arts fellowships are salaried positions. The salary will be based on level 5 of the job recruitment scheme for teaching and research staff in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointees will receive a salary component based on personal work performance. Annual gross salary is 50.000 - 55.000€. The fellows have an office at the Helsinki Collegium, located at the heart of the University of Helsinki on the City Centre Campus, with easy access to libraries and other university services. They are also entitled to a personal allowance of 4000€ for conference trips and other research expenses.
